Technical Manuals

The standard manual set for each New Flyer bus-build contract includes a series of technical manuals on both paper and CD and original component supplier (OEM Vendor) paper manuals for major components. The New Flyer bus standard manuals exceed current transit industry standards and are very similar to Military and ATA 100 specs.

Bus Service Manuals
Manuals provide detailed procedural information and illustrations on bus systems and components, including safety, troubleshooting, component removal, inspection, repair, overhaul, installation, preventive maintenance and inspection intervals. Detailed bus system schematics of the electrical, hydraulic and air systems are included as fold-out reference drawings. New Flyer also provides OEM supplier manuals with its own proprietary manual set, for major components such as engine, transmission and HVAC systems.

Bus Parts Manuals
New Flyer also offers build-specific publications that include detailed exploded isometric line-art illustrations and corresponding parts listings. The easy-to-read layout, with numerical and subject indexes, allows users to quickly identify parts and part numbers for part replacement orders.

Bus Operator Guides
New Flyer offers build-specific publications that instruct drivers how to safely and efficiently operate New Flyer vehicles. Guides include pre-trip checklist, response to safety alarm systems and emergency actions. Clear line-art illustrations are included for quick and easy operator reference.

Transit Information Viewer (TIV)
The Transit Information Viewer is a computerized viewing system, allowing users to navigate through New Flyer bus technical document PDF files. User-friendly and organized for quick and intuitive access to technical manual information, the TIV CD is an appealing and cost-effective alternative to costly high-end imaging systems. Each CD included the three manuals reviewed above as well as electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, air system layouts and hydraulic schematics.

New Flyer manuals are specifically designed for simplicity and ease of use while boasting most of the features found in high-end imaging systems. Navigation through manuals operates as on a standard Internet browser. A main navigational home page and on-screen graphic and bookmark-style hyperlinks take users quickly to referenced information from manual text, table of contents, or directly to a parts list or graphic page. High-speed search capabilities allow the user to search and display part numbers, text, or strings of text.

Within the manual, the user can enlarge any illustration to view the smaller details of an assembly. The text can be similarly enlarged for easier reading. Any selected page or a range of pages can be printed. The split-screen feature allows two or multiple pages to be viewed simultaneously.

TIV can be downloaded onto a network server for access from a network and operates in the familiar Microsoft Windows® environment.
